Asylum Matters is a charity that works locally and nationally to improve the lives of refugees and people seeking asylum through social and political change.

Mobilising and coordinating local, regional and national advocacy work and working in partnership with aligned organisations and groups, Asylum Matters aim to increase the impact of campaigns to secure improvements to asylum policy and practice.

Current areas of focus for the charity include lifting the ban on work for those awaiting asylum claim outcomes; improving accommodation standards for asylum seekers so they can live here safely, freely, in dignity and in a way that enables them to rebuild their lives; increasing the asylum support rate from its current £5.84 per day which pushes asylum seekers into poverty; and fighting against the laws outlined in the new Nationality and Borders Bill which are designed to punish, rather than protect, people seeking sanctuary.
